I kind of just invested all of me into auditioning for 'RuPaul's Drag Race,' with the risk of possibly not making it. I would be dedicating myself to my craft. I thought, 'Drag is really what I want to do.' If I could make a career out of drag, I would be a true artist. Into my wigs and my costumes and my outfits. I was finding that I was working so hard and investing all that into my drag. I had been doing drag for those 10 months and really enjoyed drag a lot more than my day job. What motivated you to audition for this season? But I definitely made it a fact to prove myself very early on in the competition. I kind of used that as liberty to experiment more with my drag and to learn things along the way. I saw it as an advantage because I had a very fresh approach. I then realized that I had the power of being underestimated. I did (feel pressure to prove myself) once I got chosen last for that first challenge. You walked into workroom with just 10 months of professional drag experience. I mean, it was the pressure of not fading into the background. Did that put any pressure on you to amp things up every week? You were deemed a frontrunner from the beginning and became a fan favorite. I AM BEAUTIFUL: Aja says 'Drag Race' helped her learn her worth But in the moment, you're supposed to just figure things out. Had we had more time, and had we had more guidance and advice on how to create a sitcom - which I still know nothing about - perhaps then it could have been better. And at the end of the day, let's just have fun.' That was our strategy. We're two very charismatic people, so we have to use our charisma. We're like, 'We just have to run with our gut. Nina and I were just in a moment where we were just on a blank and we were just running on our instincts. When I saw that clip, I knew I was going to be in the bottom. I thought I'd be fine up until we saw the clip of our performance. Were you surprised to find yourself in the bottom? The only time I can tell you I did feel anything out of my shock was when RuPaul raised his voice at me. Not only that, but there was a very, very short amount of time for me to learn the song. I was at a complete blank because I was in a complete state of shock. I was not prepared for the lip sync. What was going through my mind was - absolutely nothing. Talk me through what was going through your mind as it was happening. The fan favorite talked about the "shock" of it all and embracing her inner artist.
